Museum and Archaeological Park of Ancient Kaulon - Monasterace (RC)

The Kaulon - Monasterace Museum and Archaeological Park, located at Cape Punta Stilo, has been associated with ancient Kaulonia, one of the most important colonies of the Achaeans of Crotone (7th century BC). The museum includes remains of the Hippodamian urban grid plan, houses with distinctive mosaics (such as the “House of the Dragon”), a Doric peripteral temple (470–460 BCE), as well as later baths and cult complexes. It also documents the life of the city with exhibits from residences, necropolises, and sanctuaries, along with significant finds such as the bronze Tabula Cauloniensis—a dedication to Zeus written in Achaean script—and underwater discoveries that confirm the existence of a harbor installation and commercial activity.
