GAL Magna Grecia is a local development agency established in 2017, with the aim of promoting sustainable development across 12 rural municipalities - Carosino, Crispiano, Faggiano, Grottaglie, Monteiasi, Montemesola, Monteparano, Pulsano, Roccaforzata, San Giorgio Jonico, Statte, Leporano- in the province of Taranto (Puglia, Italy). The area spans 407 km² and boasts a rich natural and cultural landscape, a strong agricultural tradition and local activities such as olive cultivation, viticulture and artisanal crafts (e.g. Grotalia pottery). GAL's strategy focuses on innovation, the promotion of local entrepreneurship, and the integration of agriculture, tourism and culture, aiming to foster economic development, job creation and environmental protection. Through the 2014-2020 Local Action Programme, supported by over €4 million in funding, GAL implements initiatives to enhance quality of life and preserve the region's identity.
