Museo Archeologico Nazionale "Vito Capialbi" - Vibo Valentia

The National Archaeological Museum “Vito Capialbi” - Vibo Valentia is housed in the medieval castle of Vibo Valentia, built in the 13th century by Frederick II of Swabia. The museum houses one of the richest archaeological collections in Calabria, presenting the town's timeless history from the Greek (as Hipponion), Roman (Vibona Valentia) and medieval (Monsleonis) periods. The museum includes exhibits from the Greek, Roman, and Medieval periods, such as ceramics, coins, bronze weapons, sculptures, and the invaluable Orphic gold tablet from Tomb 19 — a burial dating to the early 4th century BC and one of the most important epigraphic testimonies of Magna Graecia — as well as the private collection of the distinguished scholar Vito Capialbi.
