The British Hellenic College was founded in 1989 with the aim of developing innovative educational programmes for high school graduates and professionals at all levels. These include higher education, Greek language courses for foreigners, continuing education, participation in European Educational projects and other related activities. One of the European programmes in which it participated was POS MATOME GRIKO, where acting as both an initiator and partner alongside other participating organisations.The programme focused on Griko, the language spoken in one of the two Greek-speaking areas of Southern Italy, specifically in the wider region of Grecia Salentina in southern Apoulia. The objective of this initiative was the preservation and protection of Griko as a valuable part of the shared Mediterranean Cultural Heritage.
